Congratulations to Mila! Her artwork won 2nd place in Elementary Painting at the 2018 KY Elementary and Middle School All State Art Show. What a special recognition!

Southside will host the VSA Traveling Student Exhibition: A Matter of Perspective from May 16-24. It features 31 artworks created by students with disabilities. This is a highly sought-after juried exhibition and we’re very fortunate to host it.
Here’s a preview:
Southside Elementary will have 12 students’ artworks shown at this year’s Francisco’s Farm Art Festival in Midway, KY. This Festival shows fine art and crafts from all over the country, and this year will include artworks from students across Woodford County. Student artworks will be located in the foyer of the Ann Hart Raymond building at Midway University.
Southside has five students, one from 1st through 5th grades, whose artworks will be on display at the All State Art Show. Come support artists from all over Kentucky!

What is wearable art? It’s art that you can wear! There are some special materials to use at the collage center. Remember, your wearable art must still pass the shake test.
Some ideas:
What is a heart map? It’s a type of collage where you find images that represent what you love, find important, or make you you.
Here are some examples:
Umberto Boccioni was an Italian artist who spent a lot of time thinking about the future. He thought about how the world, people, and machines would be in the future. Create an artwork that shows what you think the future will look like. Choose one of following ideas or combine them. This art could become a WOW artwork.

Students have worked hard to complete their stunning artworks for Art to Remember.
Important dates:
Please make sure your Art to Remember order form has your student’s name and artwork on it. Each form is personalized, so it is very important that you have your student’s order form. *If you have another student’s order form, please return it to me (Ms. Baird) and I will get you a new one.
This year, Southside is using online or phone orders only. Directions on how to order are on the back of your order form. Please do not send completed orders, checks, or money to school.
